Kyler Murray's agent, Erik Burkhardt, released a lengthy statement Monday saying they have sent a detailed contract proposal to the Arizona Cardinals.

Murray is scheduled to make about $5.4 million in 2022, with a base salary of $965,000 and a $4.5 million roster bonus that's fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the league year.

While Burkhardt did not provide specific details, he said Murray's proposal is "in line with the current quarterback market" but lowers his 2022-23 salary cap number to allow the Cardinals to re-sign "other deserving teammates and add additional free agents."

Burkhardt says it's now up to Arizona to make the deal, adding that "Kyler remains hopeful that the organization chooses to commit so that he can continue leading the Cardinals to further success and value for many years to come."

Baker Mayfield will likely be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in 2022, but the team will explore all options at the position this offseason.

Mayfield and his representatives are scheduled to meet with the Browns at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Mayfield is set to play under his fifth-year option this coming year.

He is coming off January surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder.

The New Orleans Saints have moved more than $26 million in salary cap charges into future years by restructuring the contracts of Michael Thomas and Ryan Ramczyk.

New Orleans began the offseason approximately $75 million over the projected cap of $208.2 million.

Thomas' restructure is especially notable since it further indicates that New Orleans has no plans to trade him.

The Saints converted $14.6 million of Thomas' scheduled salary and roster bonuses into a signing bonus, which means they can spread the cap charges over the next five years. 

The Green Bay Packers have restructured the contract of Aaron Jones just a year after signing him to a four-year, $48 million extension.

Jones is due $8.9 million this year, which is double his cap number from last season.

The Packers have converted $3.85 million of his pay into a signing bonus, while adding two voidable years to his deal, to create just over $3 million in 2022 cap space.

The running back will remain under contract through 2024.

The contracts players are signing in the USFL cover one year, with a one-year option. 

That means USFL teams will be able to retain any players they choose for 2023, which coincides with the XFL's third inaugural season.

While the USFL may win the short-term battle for players, the XFL's collaboration with the NFL may help them win the broader struggle for relevance.

Following a social media cleanse and reports of immaturity, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals are now on the same page.

The Cardinals are now working to exercise Murray's fifth-year option or agree to terms on a long-term deal. Murray has one season remaining on his current deal.

Aaron Rodgers will be informing the Green Bay Packers of his decision soon, according to league sources.

There are multiple teams with offers on the table for Rodgers, but nothing can happen until the Packers allow a trade.

Brian Gutekunst says the Green Bay Packers want to reach a long-term contract extension with Davante Adams, but there's no guarantee an agreement will be reached.

The Packers would prefer a long-term extension to the franchise tag, but the general manager also said Adams walking away in free agency is possible.

J.C. Jackson says the New England Patriots haven't discussed a new contract with him.

The franchise-tag window opened on Tuesday. No player has more interceptions in their first four seasons than Jackson.

"I guess they feel like they don't need me," Jackson said. "I guess I can't be that important to them. I know I am, but they're not showing me."

He signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released linebacker Anthony Hitchens.

The Chiefs will save about $8.4 million against their salary cap in 2022.

Hitchens, 29, joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2018. He had 80 tackles and an interception in 15 games last season.
